SHELBURNE FARMS ROUND BARN FUND RAISING PACKAGE INSERT
In 1985 the Shelburne Museum purchased a rare 80-foot-diameter round barn, only one of about two dozen built in the state. The 9,000-pound upper segment of the barn was transported by helicopter from northern Vermont to its new home at the entrance to the Museum grounds. The base was dismantled and transported on flatbed trucks.
Sarah Montgomery designed the fund-raising package which included a 1/8 inch to 1 foot scale cut-out model of the barn (right)
for potential donors to construct.
The Round Barn is a signature Shelburne Museum icon. It is used as the Visitor Center and special exhibits space.
Design, model art and illustrations, 1985.
